For the past few weeks, we’ve been going door to door, knocking on doors, and looking for real estate deals. While we were at it, my dad, who is very frugal, got sold by a door-to-door roofing salesman.
I’m completely surprised by the conversion rate of our door-knocking. We’re literally asking people to sell us their houses. And for 100 doors, we’ve got over 10 opportunities.
There is something magical about showing up at someone’s house and getting that instant face-to-face. If you’re friendly and dress nice, it’s easy to build rapport quickly, qualify their interest, and hopefully get the sale.
One easy way you can implement this is after every job you do, just go knock all the neighbors and say “Hey Diana, we’re just over doing Jim’s floors. Wanted to stop by and see if you guys were maybe in the market for some new floors, or have any repairs that need to be done?” Drop your card off, and I guarantee they’ll be thinking of you next time they, or someone they know, needs new floors.
